Let’s continue to work on Study Island as we enhance our reading, math, and science skills.
Students in grades K through 2nd grade will continue to work on the Key Skills and Accelerated Reader Programs in the Learning Technology Class.
|The rubric for Study Island is as follows:|
To all PARENTS (Gr. 3-8):
- Use of Study Island at home (one hour/week for homework) is a mandatory assignment.
- Homework, along with class work, is included in the Learning Technology grade
- Access the site at www.studyisland.com
(students have personal user names and passwords)
- Please send a signed note, or contact me if you have no Internet access at home at 773-535-9330 or Mrs. Sheila Morris
To all STUDENTS (Gr. 3-8):
- Please log on and spend at least one hour weekly at home
- Keep the testing balanced... an even number of ribbons in each subject. For 4th and 7th grades, Science is included, along with Reading and Math.

If your child has not turned in the Student Safety Contract , please do so immediately as they will not be allowed to handle laboratory chemicals under adult supervision in the lab.

Parents of 6TH-8TH Grade Students
Science Fair will be held in January. (Date will be sent out early in that month)
Please ask your child about his/her approved topic.
Please take the time to assist your child with
his/her Science Fair Project at home during the winter break.

again it’s time for the Owen Scholastic Academy Choir to have their
annual Winter Concert.
This year we will take part in the PTO Christmas Extravaganza. It will be on December 16, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.
The choir is also planning to go caroling this year. We are scheduling a few community events.
As more information becomes available, it will be posted on the school’s website.
also time for the school –wide Winter Assembly. The students will be
presenting “A Christmas to Remember”. The assembly will be held on
Thursday, December 19th, 2013. The first performance
will be held at 9:00 am for grades K-4 and the second assembly will be held at 1:00pm for grades 5-8. All students will perform at both assemblies. Students are to look festive; they may wear red, green, or holiday attire. If your child does not have this attire they may
wear black or their navy blue school uniform. No jeans or gym shoes are to be worn to the performance.
Everyone is invited to come out and join us. Hope to see you there!
